Korea Trip Blog 1st June 2015: Namsangol Hanok Village & Itaewon

Day 3 of our Korea trip.

Namsangol-Hanok-Village
So today we visited Namsangol Hanok Village, which is situated right smack in the middle of the bustling city at “Chungmuro”. Namsangol Hanok Village is an amazing place for one to have a feel and see the actual homes and its interiors up close, where the very rich people from the Joseon Dynasty used to live in. When you’re around the village, you’ll be blown away by how beautiful the surrounding is, with lush green trees and a lake in the backyard, complete with pavilions. There, you can see and learn how traditional Koreans make daily usable items using straws (eg. Straw mat, straw hat, straw basket), play the games that kids in the dynasty used to play, and immerse yourself into its serenity.

After which, it was shopping at Itaewon, which is one of the hippiest places to visit. This street is filled with people from all walks of life and varying nationalities. While being famous for its diverse culture, it’s a hot spot for foreigners and its one of the streets where we actually pass by more foreigners than locals, even when we were dining!

Our shopping spree landed us both with new hats! But the shop owners are rather tricky, so luckily we managed to devise a plan to get the best possible price from them which we will share to you guys in time.

Till then, it’s 216am here and it’s time for bed!
