7 Things to do in London

London is a hip, happening, colourful, loud, proud, and really quite beautiful city to visit, and England’s capital is packed solid with things to see and do making it one of the must visits when in Europe. There are far too many attractions to list in one go, and it would certainly take you an age to get around everything and experience them all, however it is possible to see a lot during a short space of time, if you plan your visit properly.

This 7 is our Singapore Travel Blog recommendation. Do any of these float your boat?

West End shows

things to do in London

The West End is basically London’s version of Broadway, and the Theatre District is packed with big named shows such as Les Miserable, Lion King etc and pre or post-show restaurants for a spot of dinner. Make sure you get your tickets from a reputable website or direct from the Box Office, as you’ll find plenty of unscrupulous types trying to sell you fakes.

London Dungeons

Watch out for 2 for 1 voucher deals on this particular attraction, as they’re quite common. This is a great attraction for families, showcasing the rather gory history of the capital, with life-like actors and even the odd ride thrown in for good measure. It’s certainly a day out with a difference!

Cruise the Thames
things to do in London

You will find many different options for Thames cruises, lasting from an hour to an evening cruise with a meal, so it’s really a case of what you fancy at the time. This is a must-do, as cruising the river that cuts through the heart of the city will show you a totally different viewpoint, whilst also handily getting you from one side of the city to the other without having to brave the underground!

Buckingham Palace, Changing of the Guard

Check times for this, as they do vary a little, and make sure you get there early to get a prime spot as it is possible to see this from the palace gates on the road side (for free, of course). This is where you will get a glimpse of true British pomp and ceremony, thanks to the Royal Family. This is a total must see for anyone visiting London for the first time.

Madame Tussauds

Again, a big name international attraction for all ages. If you dream of meeting Brad Pitt, then maybe his wax-work is the closest you’ll get to taking an up close funky shot with him! Get your photo taken with wax-works of some of the most famous names in past and present history. *Note, do try to position your camera and find the perfect angle where it seems like the wax figures are looking directly into the camera.

London Sightseeing Tours

This is probably the best way to get around a lot during a day or two. You will see some of the major sights of the city, some of the names you will know without having ever seen them – Trafalgar Square, St Paul’s Cathedral, Tower of London, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Oxford Street, and Westminster Abbey, to name just a few. The list goes on, and there are many routes available too. Do a little research to target your visit to where you most want to see.

The London Eye

Built originally to mark the millennium, the London Eye is a hugely popular attraction, and on a clear day a ride on this huge wheel will help you see for miles. Booking online ahead of time is the best way to make sure you a) get a ticket, and b) get a discount (save up to 20% when you book online and/or you can even combine and get multiple attraction passes such as Tussad+London Eye, London Dungeons+London Eye etc).

This is just a touch on what you can see in London, the list goes on and on.
